well, after I've seen the Hobbit, I can't wait for part 2

. I hoped that I could see how Smaug would look like, but the only thing I saw was his tail, his eye and a little part of his head... and it looks like that he has blue scales ..?

I think the blue scales might actually be light gray. Perhaps some of his red scales turned gray as he got older. Kinda like how humans get gray hairs as they age.

Only giving us a view of Smaug's eye towards the end of the film was an excellent way to excite everyone for the next film - much more so for me since I got to see the film over Christmas in 3D.

And BTW, you shouldn't have to worry about his scales appearing to be blue as opposed to red; they only seemed to look that way because of the lighting, though I could tell for myself they were red just as the shot zoomed in completely on his eye.

well, I don't know anymore how it exactly looked like, but it would have been really weird if smaug had blue scales ;D

True; I've not been able to see it a second time since Christmas, though I still distinctly remember Smaug's skin being red every time I caught a good look at him during the film. No doubt it would make it all the more stranger if his scales had been deliberately rendered blue just for that last scene

oh well, I think I should probably change smaug's scale color in this pic in the next few days/weeks.. ^^
